Dentures, Overdentures, and All-on-X

Are you looking to replace all of your teeth? If so you have options. Dentures and other tooth replacement options are more common than you might think. Scroll below to learn more about dentures, overdentures, and fixed hybrid dentures (otherwise known as all-on-x).

Complete Dentures

A complete dentures is the oldest and least expensive way to replace an entire arch of missing teeth. Dentures rely mainly on suction to stay in place. Wearing dentures is quite different than having traditional teeth and requires practice to eat and talk. Implant Overdenture

Overdentures are the intersection between affordability and comfort. Rather than being supported by the gums and reliant on a suction for stability, overdentures are held in place by implants, typically 2-4 implants on the bottom jaw and 4-6 implants on the top jaw. The overdentures “snap” onto the implants and can be easily removed by the patient in order to be cleaned or repaired. This procedure is routinely completed in our Cheyenne, Wyoming practice. Call or schedule a consult to see if an overdenture is a good option for you!

Fixed Hybrid or All-on-X

A fixed hybrid denture is the mercedes of complete tooth replacement. This option, although the most expensive, is best for patients who want the closes replica of natural teeth. A fixed hybrid denture is made of monolithic zirconia rather than acrylic and is quite literally as hard as a rock. This makes chewing steak, nuts, and other hard foods a reality again. Zirconia is also highly esthetic. Therefore patients who are looking for a beautiful yet natural replacement option will typically choose an all-on-x prosthesis.

Fixed

Fixed hybrid dentures, otherwise known as all-on-x or fixed prothesis, are just like they sound – fixed. The prothesis can only be removed by a dentist or dental specialist.

Esthetic

Fixed hybrid dentures are typically made of zirconia, an extremely hard and esthetic material. This option is best for patients with high esthetic demands.

Functional

Becuase fixed hybrid dentures are permanenly fixated to implants which are fused to the bone, this type of denture is extremely durable and can be used for chewing hard foods.
